The Red Zone:LED Photo Therapy Facials

Updated: Mar 30, 2019

Some of you have asked me about my beauty regimes. As a former aesthetican I have vast information on beautifying the skin from external applications to internal holistic remedies. My experience working alongside medical doctors and holistic gurus have given me plenty of knowledge on the topic. I actually designed my own machine that performs LED treatments and body sculpting procedures and was using it on my clients at one point. The device is shown in the picture listed on this post. The picture is me using red light therapy for skin rejuvenation. It also can help assist in body contouring services but we will save that for another post. I will just go into the basics of what LED photo therapy is and how it can be beneficial for the skin. At one point, I was using LED religiously but I have slowed down on the protocol. I find it to be a great relief for dry skin, eczema, and psoriasis. My light was designed at a specific nanometer which provided more effective results compared to other devices on the market. So enter the red zone for supple, younger skin!

Red LED Photo Therapy Facials

Technology has revolutionized the beauty industry. In normal circumstances, you would have no reason to put LED lights in relation to facials in the same sentence. However, today’s facials are many and varied with peels, hydrotherapy, lasers, micro needling and other types of professional skin therapy processes. LED phototherapy is a popular entrant into this realm of cosmetology in relation to skin care and treatment of issues such as wrinkles. For this reason, it is considered an important part of anti-aging care.

Indeed, experts show that LED lights have different functions according to their wavelength. Besides the red LED phototherapy, there is blue and infrared phototherapy. All of these, however, share the common function which is to promote skin renewal through building new elastin and collagen. Red light achieves this purpose by reducing inflammation and promoting circulation. While laser was developed to mainly fade stubborn scars among other things, light therapy, on the other hand, was developed with the intent to fasten the healing process of wounds and post-surgery scars. In the process of doing so, experts discovered that this skin therapy method had the amazing extra effect of rejuvenating the skin.

How It Works

According to experts, when therapeutic light energy is used in its correct wavelength, then it feeds the dermis layer’s skin cells with energy that these cells convert into ATP(adenosine triphosphate) which fuels the cells and prompts fibroblast cells to produce collagen and elastin in an enhanced way. This makes LED phototherapy great for anti-aging properties such as the reduction of the fine lines and wrinkles as well as uneven skin tone that may have formed over the years.

How Often Should You Go for LED Photo Therapy

Experts agree that the frequency of LED therapy depends on your skin concerns. While some may opt to attend a session only before a big event, more sessions are required for you to see the positive changes. As such aim for 2-3 treatments each week for about 4-6 weeks. One treatment session lasts anywhere from 10 to 90 minute but while you won’t notice the results of the therapy overnight, after four treatments you will definitely start seeing great results.

The Benefits of Choosing LED Photo Therapy

  • It is a gentle non-invasive procedure with no chemicals or downtime and hence, it is quite a rejuvenating experience.

  • It can help kill stubborn acne by killing the bacteria associated with acne formation.

  • It is great at getting rid of both precancerous and cancerous skin spots when combined with a good topical medication.
